We anticipate most of our requests from residents will be for pick up and delivery of grocery and pharmacy items. We also offer facilitation of food pantry donations and pick-ups. In this case, a volunteer would pick up the items from the food pantry and deliver to the resident. Mokena Strong has connected with many local taxing bodies, and will also facilitate wellness checks by working with the appropriate organization (fire/police).
You can provide your availability on the volunteer application submitted through the website. We will only call if a need arises during the time when you indicated you would be available.
Mokena Strong will provide volunteers with a Mokena Strong badge and disposable gloves to be worn during the volunteer duty. It will be required that you wear the badge at all times when representing Mokena Strong.
Mokena Strong Volunteers will never come into full physical contact with the residents in need of service. A drop-off at the front door will be sufficient. And volunteers will NEVER enter a resident’s home.
For the safety and peace of mind of the residents we serve, we feel it is important that each volunteer have a background check before they interact with the public as a Mokena Strong representative.
Mokena Strong will reach out to let you know that your application has been finalized and that you will be placed in the rotation to receive a call to facilitate a resident request. A “welcome” package will be dropped off at your home. It will include a Mokena Strong badge, disposable gloves and a Welcome Letter.
